NaNoWriMo Begins!

Are you ready to write? I am psyched about NaNoWriMo. Although, I must confess that I’m not out to write a novel. I have several blog posts to prepare as well as several short stories that need to be finished. I am hoping this will provide me the motivation to do that.

I’ve decided to shoot for 250 words/ day. I know this seems like a low goal, but given my other activities and commitments, I think it should be doable. If anything, it will give me an idea of what to shoot for next year.

I have to ask…have you ever read a book that has left you scratching your head? It just recently happened to me. The book is Frostfire by Lynn Viehl. I won’t say that I didn’t enjoy it, but I think I need to go back and read it again. There was so much going on and different time periods and lots of interweaving of characters. Maybe I am dense, but I missed the neat bow on the package at the end of the story. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the characters – Walker and Lilah, Ethan and Lori, and (of course) Nick and Gabriel – they were wonderful and complex. Nick still makes me laugh – it is surprising that her mouth never seems to get the better of her! If anyone has insight to offer on this, please clue me in! For instance, was Samuel really a good guy or a bad guy? Was Lilah originally killed by Nathan? So many questions…

As a side note, Nightshine, the next book in the Kyndred series, was released today. Also released today was Drink Deep, the next book in the Chicagoland Vampires series. So many good books, so little time to read!!
