It has been a while since my last post. I have missed sharing my reads, vents, and goings-on. I do have a good reason for slacking, though. I enjoyed a long weekend in Florida – Sanibel Island to be specific. It was very lovely. The sun was shining, the temps were balmy, and the pool water warm. I am proud to say that I managed to bask in the sun and not burn to a crisp. I may have finally mastered sun screen!
While there, I found some time to relax in the lanai and read my Kindle. I read Hard Fall by James Buchanan and Cop Out by K.C. Burn. I would be hard pressed to say which one I liked best. They were both excellent reads.
Hard Fall was set in Utah. The two hotties were Kade, a rock climber and former felon, and Joe, a Mormon deputy sheriff. Joe struggled with his religion and being gay all the while solving a murder. Kade was the steadfast rock, supporting and generally being Joe’s rock. There was lots of action, and once I got used to Deputy Joe’s “country boy” lingo and sentence structure, I found I couldn’t put my Kindle down. I will continue to read James Buchanan.
Cop Out was equally thrilling and a bit more heart wrenching. Kurt and Davy are the hotties in this one. Kurt, a detective, reaches out to his deceased partner’s significant other, Davy. Without even realizing it’s happening, Kurt – the “straight” guy – falls for Davy. This is a well-written coming out story that grabs the reader and never lets go!
