Where did you get the inspiration for it?
I found out I was sick again with cancer. It had metastised and I wanted to do more with my writing. I had just released my second book in 2014 and I wanted to write about things that I felt were most important if I only had a few months to live.
How long did it take you to write it?
I participated in the NaNoWriMo and then kept on going. I finished the book at 100k in two and half months while working days awaiting surgery for the cancer. I was sick, but when I was writing my mind focused on the content of the story and I didn’t feel any pain. Editing was the same, but on the flipside. The day I came home from surgery, that night I was in bed editing with the PC in my lap.
Do you share any traits or likes/ dislikes with your characters?
Pieces of me are in my books. My heroines have bits of my character woven into them and I really have a good time reading how strong they are because then I can see myself through their eyes. It’s like a mirror that holds pieces of me inside of them. I haven’t written any person that I know, personally, but I am up for the challenge!
Where is your story set?
My story is set in Mexico.
How long have you been writing?
Four years, however I spent many years before that writing speeches or taking a class here and there writing essays that were phenomenal. I have always enjoyed writing. My first book has a ton of errors in it and my second book is better, but my recent book, Blood Oath, is my baby. I spent so much time perfecting the storyline, grammar and the character development.
What is your favorite genre to write and to read?
I have fantastic fun writing urban fantasy, however this book is contemporary romance and I had a blast writing about the here and now. I have to say I don’t have a favorite, per say, but I am currently creatively lit up writing contemporary romance.
What is the last book you read?
Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan
What is the last movie you saw?
Captain America 2. I don’t get out much…lol.
Are we more likely to catch you reading a paperback book or on an e-reader?
eReader. My paperback is for my collections that I share with my children or mother who neither of them have eReaders. I get to keep the book once everyone is done reading them, so it’s a win for me.
What is your idea of the perfect day?
Shopping, dinner and then wrap it up with a trip to a theatre production like an opera while visiting the country of Italy. I think back to the times in the turn of the 19th century when the upper class planned the day dressing up for the evening, dinning in with guests then attending the theatre late at night. Families went. Friends met up and gossiped. I would love to do that for a day. It would be my dream vacation holiday.
What is your preference: coffee, tea, or soda?
Coffee. The smell in a coffee store is fantastic. I could sniff it for hours.
