Fairy Tale Lies Book Release

Title: Fairy Tale Lies

Series: Opposites Attract #1

Author: DK Marie

Published: June 3rd, 2019

Publisher: Champagne Book Group

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Content Warning: Steamy but not Erotica

Age Recommendation: 18+

Synopsis:

Greta and Jacob aren’t looking for love, but when they meet, their attraction is white hot, melting away all self-restraint.

Both times.

The first is a stormy spring afternoon, spent indulging in each other’s bodies. When they’re abruptly interrupted, they part ways convinced they’re nothing more than an erotic chapter in the other’s life.

However, when they unexpectedly meet again, Jacob isn’t willing to let Greta slip away. He convinces her to give them a chance.

Lust turns to love, but resentments fester. Jacob’s convinced Greta will never see him as anything more than a blue-collar nobody. A temporary indulgence. Greta fears she isn’t strong enough to stand against both her family’s scorn and Jacob’s growing anger.

As tempers flare and passions deepen, they have to decide if their love is strong enough to shatter the cynicism and misconceptions of what it means to be each other’s fairy tale ending.

Recent Reads

In the evenings, I’ve gotten back to reading. I’m filling up my tablet’s memory with Kindle books. Trust me, I’m not complaining. The only difficult thing, at times, is to figure out what I want to read next.

Screen Shot 2018-07-23 at 6.56.50 PMI started my “roll” with The Last Echo by Michael Connelly. It’s the first book in the Harry Bosch series. Harry is a detective in LAPD’s Hollywood Division. I’ve read through Book 11, The Closers, and then looked for something else. I wasn’t sure how I would like the books when Harry retired, but I kept on going. I finally took a break because I got the feeling Harry’s going to get really hard on himself, and I’m afraid that’s going to take away from the story. I could be totally wrong, but I decided a change was in order.

I tried John Sandford’s Rules of Prey, the first book in the Lucas Davenport series. It did not work for me. I couldn’t connect with Davenport (the detective), and some of the things that happened in the book left me sour.

Interview with Dawn:

Tell us about the story. Where did you get the inspiration for it? How long did it take you to write it? Do you share any traits or likes/ dislikes with your characters? Where is your story set? A fictional place or somewhere you’ve visited/ lived?

This is a science fiction epic series called Emperors of Ethia, and Blood Feud is the first book of that series. I have three core books planned, but have enough story for far more. I even have an outline for a prequel novel and several short stories.  These other works helped me a lot with fleshing out the backstory for the series.

The inspiration for this series came from many places. The show Prison Break, the Sherlock Holmes stories, Farscape, Star Wars, Star Trek were very heavy inspirations for this series, and if you look close enough, you may see some of those parts emulated in the story. Blurb

Wannabe singer and band front man Erik Von Nordgren hates snarky brit Asher Berkley with a passion. From the moment he turns up at practice with his twin sister Daisy, who is one of the band the two have hated each other.

Through a series of ‘tit for tat’ incidents they annoy, frustrate and exasperated each other. The die hard goth with purple eyes and the hard core rocker with dreams of the big time have nothing in common and no need to cross paths. Except to wind each other up.

Until the day that Erik throws Asher in the school pool, when everything begins to change. Erik is so far in closet he’s in Narnia and Asher has a dark past and trust issues that stand in the way of any relationship, let alone one with the brash American who hurts him every time they try to get together.

A relationship doomed from the start, or so you’d think.  Continue reading “New Release: Upstaged 1 – Opening Act”

Almost Healed

“I’d like a helping of the flu with a side of bronchitis, please.” Said no one. Ever.

Although I didn’t want it, I still managed to get stuck with it. Ten days later, I’m back to 90%. I haven’t done much of late as the sickness sucked the energy right out of me. The one thing I did do to pass the time: read.

What did I read? Well, I re-read the first four books in the Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill. I’d forgotten how much of an arrogant pain Ethan was early on. A healthy dose of Merit snark helped my mood. Plus, how can you not love some Mallory and Catcher?

Deciding I was in the mood for more vampires, I re-read some of the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward. Dark Lover, the initial book that was Beth and Wrath’s story, is one of my all time favorites. Of course, I had to delve into that one again. I’d recently finished re-reading Rhage’s book so I skipped his went straight to Butch’s. After finishing Butch and Marissa’s story, I moved to Manny and Payne’s. Theirs is one of the books I haven’t read over and over. Not sure why as I liked their story a lot, especially when the figured out Manny’s bloodline. I think I might have been tired of the V drama (I had forgotten about that in this book), which is why it isn’t one of my top favorites. Last but not least, I re-read Blood Fury because I just love me some Saxton. He waited a while for his HEA, and I’m so glad that he got it.

If you’re not familiar with Blood Fury, it’s part of the BDB Legacy series. The main couple in the book are Peyton and Novo. Here’s the blurb:

A vampire aristocrat, Peyton is well aware of his duty to his bloodline: mate with an appropriate female of his class and carry on his family’s traditions. And he thoug

ht he’d found his perfect match—until she fell in love with someone else. Yet when his split-second decision in a battle with the enemy endangers the life of another trainee, Peyton has to face the idea that his future, and his heart, actually lie with another.

Novo, as a female in the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s training program, feels like she has to prove herself to everybody—and she has no interest in being distracted by falling in love. But when Peyton proves to be so much more than a rich playboy, she is forced to confront the tragedy that has broken her soul and closed her off from love.

As the two grapple with Novo’s past and Peyton’s present, another couple must contend with a connection that is unparalleled—and potentially scandalous. Saxton, who has had his heart broken, discovers in himself a deep-seated attraction to Ruhn, a new member of the household. But will the other male explore the connection? Or will he close his mind and his heart to what could be true love . . . and cost Saxton everything?

With any luck, as my energy comes back, I will get back to writing and exercising. I’m already thinking about upcoming day trips and vacations. I’ve got to get back to Iceland!! But, that’s another story…

Jane Yellowrock Series

I’m back to reading. I had taken a break to watch sketching videos to try and improve. Plus, I got to the point that I didn’t know what I wanted to read. Nothing sounded good.

I’ve gotten back to reading Urban Fantasy. I especially like stories set in New Orleans. I’ve never visited there, but the city seems to fit the genre rather well.

Lately I’ve been reading Faith Hunter’s Jane Yellowrock series. I just finished book 10, Shadow Rites. I’m hoping to start Cold Reign tonight. Right now, there is one more book in the series. I’m hoping it doesn’t end there.

I’ve always like Jane for her fearlessness, her desire to do anything to protect those whom she loves, and her snark/wit. Continue reading “Jane Yellowrock Series”
