About the Book

Blade of Darkness by Dianne Duvall

Immortal Guardians Book #7

Releasing September 19th, 2017

Return to the “utterly addictive” (RT Book Reviews) world of New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall’s Immortal Guardians.

Dana Pembroke has been able to glimpse the future of those she touches for as long as she can remember.  But she never saw Aidan coming.  When the tall, dark Celt with the charming grin yet world-weary eyes walks through her door, the future she sees for him is one full of violence, danger, deception… and passion.  Because amidst the terrifying battles that unfold in her visions, she also sees herself in Aidan’s arms and in his bed.  Dana knows she should keep her distance, but the tender moments and laughter they share entice her even as she finds herself thrust into a world of vampires, immortals, and other preternatural beings.

Immortal Guardian Aidan O’Byrne has been hunting and slaying psychotic vampires for nearly three thousand years, so visions of bloody battles don’t trouble him.  The battles Dana foresees, however, show Aidan’s brethren turning against him, so he can’t help but feel alarmed.  While he spends as much time as he can with Dana, struggling to decipher her dire predictions, Aidan finds himself utterly smitten. Hope rises that he has finally found a woman who can banish the darkness and loneliness that plague him. But when vampires begin targeting Dana and a powerful enemy spawns chaos, will fate grant them time to find happiness together? Continue reading “Blade of Darkness Release”

#SampleSunday from Dark Debt

Dark_DebtI started reading Dark Debt (#11 in the Chicagoland Vampires series) by Chloe Neill. I just love Merit and Ethan. Well, how can you not love Ethan when he looks David Beckham?!! In this book, Merit and Ethan have to deal with the return of Ethan’s Master, Balthasar, who conveniently is no longer dead. Huh.

Here’s the official description:

A vampire never gets old. But neither do his enemies. When a figure from Ethan’s dark past makes a splashy debut in Chicago, Merit and her Master don’t know whether he’s friend or foe. But they’ll have to figure out soon, because trouble is brewing in the Windy City.

At an exclusive society soiree attended by the upper echelons of the human and supernatural worlds, Merit and Ethan barely stop the assassination of a guest. When the target turns out to be a shady businessman with a criminal edge, Merit suspects a human vendetta. But the assassins have fangs….

The connections to Chicago’s Houses go deeper than Merit knows, and even one wrong move could be her last….

A Sorceress of His Own

I just finished reading Dianne Duvall’s latest book, A Sorceress of His Own. It’s the first book in The Gifted Ones series. If you recall, Ms. Duvall writes the Immortal Guardians series—oh yes, the very yummy one with Seth and the other Immortals fighting bad vampires in North Carolina.

I must confess that I don’t normally like historical romances. I was hesitant buying this one; however, I was far from disappointed. This story is set in the 1100s (specifically 1198)—not in the society circles in London. Ah,the ton! Yuck (just not my kind of reading).

Before I get too far, let’s check out the blurb:A_Sorceress_of_his_Own

Since the day Lord Dillon earned his spurs, rumors of his savagery on the battlefield have preceded him into every room, stilling tongues and sparking fear. Weary of battle, he wishes only to find a woman he can wed who will approach him not with fear, but with the tenderness that has been absent from his life for so long. Yet only the wisewoman seems invariably at ease in his presence. Perhaps because she garners the same fear in others that he does himself.

For seven years, Alyssa has been by Lord Dillon’s side, counseling him from the shadows, healing him with her hands, and staving off the worst of his loneliness while his fearsome reputation keeps others at bay. Blessed–or cursed–with gifts that label her a sorceress, she is forced to conceal her youth and the love she harbors for him beneath umbral robes that lead Dillon and his people to believe she is the same aged wisewoman who served his father.

All is revealed, however, and passions flare when an enemy threatens Dillon’s life and Alyssa sacrifices everything to save him. When Dillon discovers that the wisewoman is far from elderly, he is instantly entranced. And, as he and Alyssa work together to defeat an enemy bent on destroying them both, Dillon will risk anything–even the wrath of his king–to be with her.

I loved both Lord Dillon and Alyssa. They both had really big hearts and tried to do the right thing, no matter the obstacle in their path. We also had a Seth and Roland appearance in the story. Yay! I didn’t initially catch it, but Marcus is also in the story so there is a bit of crossover from the Immortal Guardians.  Continue reading “A Sorceress of His Own”

Top Ten Tuesday: Books to Movies or TV Shows

This Tuesday’s topic is a good one: the Top Ten Books I’d Love To See As Movies/TV Shows. This will require some thought, though. Also, I’m going to go through my Goodreads list and try to half that would work as movies and have that would work as a TV series.

Thanks to The Broke and the Bookish for hosting this feature. *claps hands* You can check out their site here.

Must Read PNR Series

I haven’t been writing much of late, but I have been reading. My Kindle has been seeing lots of action!! I’m hooked on Nina Croft’s TBittersweet_Bloodhe Order Series. If you haven’t read any of the three books in this series, you must!

Let me introduce you to them. I’ve read the first two and have just started the third. I confess, I’m going to be sad when it’s over. I wish there were more in the series. The characters are great as is the plot. The author doesn’t overdo things–she includes vampires, fae, and werewolves. Well, and humans, too.

The first book is Bittersweet Blood. This is Tara and Christian Roth’s story. Let me tell you, ladies, Christian is hot and oh so very yummy.

Here’s the description:

Tara Collins just wants to be normal. Everyone else wants her dead.

Tara’s eccentric aunt raised her to be fearful of the world and follow the rules. But after her aunt’s death, Tara is ready to take control and experience life for the first time. But she quickly discovers that everything she’s been told is a web of lies. Determined to solve the mystery of who she is truly, she hires private investigator to help her uncover the truth.

Christian Roth is more than your average PI. A vampire and ex-demon hunter, Christian lives among the humans, trying to be “normal.” But recently, things seem to be falling apart. There’s a crazed demon hell-bent on revenge hunting him down, and a fae assassin on the loose with an unknown target. And the Order he abandoned desperately needs his help.

As the secrets of Tara’s past collide with the problems in Christian’s present, she finds herself fighting her attraction to the dark and mysterious investigator. Falling in love does not fit into her plans at all, but Tara soon learns that some rules are meant to be broken. Continue reading “Must Read PNR Series”
