Time Management

Well, I’m finding myself having issues with time. As in I need more of it (although, don’t we all?)!

I’ve recently started art journaling, and this morning I completed the first project in my new, handmade journal (thanks to Jen of Eve Designs). The journal is absolutely beautiful – a work of art in itself. If you are interested, check out her page on Etsy. She does great work and is very punctual with shipping your order.

I picked up an art journaling book at my local big box craft store. It was one of the few they had (hence my recent order to Amazon). At any rate, the book is titled Journal Spilling and is by Diana Trout. I like the author’s approach as she gives you options if you are just starting and don’t have a lot of supplies. One of the first projects she suggests is a collage. Pretty easy, right? Most people have old magazines or newspapers and glue. My inspiration this morning was “Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder.” I’m happy to say I completed the pages, and I’m happy with my design even though it took a bit longer than I would have liked. This afternoon I hope to go to my local park and work on some sketching. The trees are blossoming here so I should find lots of good landscapes.

As you can now see, between art journaling, writing, and music there are lots of demands on my time. Not to mention work, which sadly takes up the most of it! LOL Yes, I know I need to work so that I can live – have a roof over my head and food on the table. Some days, however, I wonder what it would be like to be either retired or independently wealthy! Would I make the most use of my time then or would I be lazy? Kind of makes you wonder… which I certainly don’t have time to do!!

Let’s get to some updates on the writing and music front because before I know it, lunchtime will be here.

I’m working on the edits to Rescuing Rafe, the sequel to Tumbling in Time. It is over halfway done. I haven’t had time to write any further on it, but I did get feedback on the first half. I’m excited about the suggestions – they will add tension and suspense to the story as well as keep it moving.

I’m not sure if I’ve announced it on this blog, but I’m writing m-m romance under the pen name of Avery Dawes. I just got the edits on Mountain Memories from Torquere. I’m excited to make the changes and get them back. We are so close to the release date – just over a month away. Yay!

I’ve also started a new romance story for Books to Go Now’s Hot Summer Nights Anthology. That story is a third of the way done. I’m hoping to keep it around 9K words so we shall see… right now it will be more than that, but hopefully I can condense some of it.

Last, but not least, on the music front. Willow_sunshine_web

Hang on, kitty cat interruption. Willow has come to visit and scratch her chin on my laptop. Quite frankly I wish she would stay as I’m a bit chilly! She is shedding like crazy! Guess I will need to vacuum again today. Add that to the list!!

Back to music… music for me is now playing the piano as opposed to singing. I’m been practicing a lot of late. Just in the mood, I suppose. I’m working on Song for Rome by Brian Crain. I’m also beginning to work on Clair de Lune by Debussy. In fact, I’ve been playing so much of late, that I’m craving a new piano, one with a full, rounded sound. Yeah, not happening, but it can’t hurt to wish, right??

Well, my wish sort of came true. Willow is curled up next to my thigh and is sharing her heat. Yay!!

Writing Progress

I’ve been as busy as a bumble bee today, meaning that I’ve had a very good writing day. For all of you who are eagerly awaiting the sequel to Tumbling in Time, I have good news. Do you want a drum roll first or just the news?? Hee hee

Rafe is suffering at the hands of a certain group of demons, but don’t worry, a rescue has been mounted! Our fallen angel is holding his own despite his rough conditions. I promise not to spill anything of great importance. As a sneaky author, I’m going to make you wait until the story is finished to give you more detail. Well, maybe not even then. You will want to read the sequel in its entirety.

The working title is Rescuing Rafe, but that doesn’t seem to do the story justice. My brain will keep pondering until something strikes me as a fitting title.

As it stands now, I’m at just over 11K words. I’d really like to hit 20K if I can. I won’t purposely drag out the story to reach a specific word count, but this one is a bit more in-depth than Tasha and Arikk’s story. My goal is to have a completed draft by the beginning of May. Also different for this one is that I have it broken into short chapters. Currently, there are 18 chapters as well as a prologue and an epilogue. That could change as I continue writing, but I’ve laid out the remaining plot points so it shouldn’t be too far off.

I hope you can feel my enthusiasm. I’m anxious to rescue Rafe and reward him with a worthy female. Nope, no clues on her. Sorry *evil wink*

Just Call Me a Zombie

How far away is spring?? Between being sick and the winter weather (i.e., lack of copious amounts of sunshine), I am feeling zombie-fied. I need something to break out of my routine. Get up tired, go to work, come home tired, eat dinner, and attempt to motivate myself to be productive. It’s rough, can’t you tell?!! At the rate I’m going, I’ll be extra pasty with dark circles around my eyes, mumbling as I stumble through the local graveyard!

Seriously, I need to kick the sore throat and runny nose. That would be a huge help! Might even give me some more energy. Then, I could put my inner zombie to bed!

Okay, enough of Zombie Denise! I am managing to write some. Whoo hoo! Here’s the latest update:

Tumbling in Time sequel – I’ve found the perfect woman to rescue Rafe. He’s gonna love her! The only clue you get is her name: Araceli.

Wild Horses spin-off – I’ve started working on the story of how Manny and Chad met. I fell in love with Manny when I was writing Georgia and Jonathan’s story. In fact, Manny almost stole the show. Now, he can do all the stealing he wants in his own story.

I’m also working on a steamy threesome – Alexandra, David, and Nate – set on Sanibel Island, Florida. I’m hoping to get it finished to submit for the Hot Summer Nights anthology. So far, I’m a third of the way into the story.

In addition to those, I have two blog posts that need to be written by Monday. Yikes! Nothing like a little pressure. No worries – I have ideas for both.

In the spririt of summer and sunshine, I’m ending with a picture from one of my Florida trips. This one was taken in Key Largo. Soon it will be beach time!

Free on Amazon

I’m trying to get the word out that my short story, Tumbling in Time, is *free* on Amazon Kindle today and tomorrow. If you are looking for a quick romance/ urban fantasy read with tornadoes, a hunky wizard, demons, a stubborn college student, and a fallen angel – this story is for you!

Here’s the link: http://www.amazon.com/Tumbling-in-Time-ebook/dp/B00AJXMSQW/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1359588181&sr=1-1&keywords=Tumbling+in+Time

Tumbling blurb:

Tasha Hutchinson, a meteorology student at a suburban Kansas University, looks forward to tornadoes but not for the same reason as her fellow classmates. She uses the storms to travel through time to visit with and fight various demons with her crush, Arikk. She has fallen hard for the stubborn wizard. Arikk better be careful – if Tasha has her way, they will be sharing more than platonic kisses.

As an immortal wizard with unique parentage, Arikk is blessed with all sorts of special abilities. He serves as a high ranking sentinel with the Guardian Peacekeepers, a demanding organization devoted to maintaining peace and justice through space and time. While Arikk has fun with Tasha – his Sunshine – he knows his life is too dangerous for them to be anything more than friends.

Will Tasha, a fragile human, survive the battles with otherworldly creatures? Will she be successful in winning the heart of her wizard?

Never fear, the end of the story is a bit of a cliffhanger. The sequel to Tumbling is already in the works. I’m not going to let my fallen angel hanging!

Being an Author is a lot of Work!

While I realized I had work ahead of me to promote my release, Tumbling in Time, I had no idea just how much! I had a crazy singing weekend with concerts and rehearsals. No writing or promoting for me – sadly. Although, performing Randol Alan Bass’s Gloria with the Maryland Symphony totally rocked!! That is probably my top musical experience in my limited career. I confess that I’m even sad that we won’t be performing it again soon.

So, now I need to be signing up for blog hops, updating websites, and all other kinds of things to get my name and story out there. I started a Goodreads author page and updated my Amazon author page. I still need to update my website. I want to give a shout-out to Kara Leigh Miller for featuring my story on her blog – yay! Thanks so much, girl 🙂

Pride_MatesI’m still managing to read. Thank goodness! I just finished Pride Mates by Jennifer Ashley. I also finished Rapture by J. R. Ward. Pride Mates was a unique take on mostly feline shifters. Liam and Kim made a great couple. Liam is a sexy Irishman with stunning blue eyes. He is a badass feline shifter. Kim is a tough defense attorney who isn’t afraid of much. Together, the pair tackle Fergus and his henchmen.

Of course, Rapture was good. I really liked that Matthias had forgotten his evil past and fell for Mels. Besides, Matthias and Jim made a kick-ass team. Well, with Adrian, too, who made a great sacrifice in this story. I’m seeing some intertwining of the BDB – gonna get even better!! Plus, I have to mention the reveal about Dog – very cool!!

Time for blogging is done. Back to my author profile on Goodreads. It’s always something, isn’t it?
